About the Nature Park

The idea of the Nature Park actually started 16 years ago, but somehow the project fell through the cracks. Today Mayor Charlie Coons and his Nature Park Committee have made the Nature Park a reality. The general idea is to raise peoples' awareness of the fragility of our natural resources. The City of Crawfordsville has teamed up with the Crawfordsville Community School Corporation and Friends of Sugar Creek in order to provide an educational facility for students and the community. Two large shelters and twelve outdoor learning stations will be placed throughout the park to serve as picnic areas, classrooms, or meeting areas depending on the visitors and their needs.  With this opportunity our sincere hope is to alter our future generations' perceptions of protection of those materials that make life possible.
